Have you ever thought about leading your church to “parent” a new church plant? Have you wondered what’s involved and how it would impact your church? Would you like to know the steps to take to make it a reality? Or maybe you’re simply curious about the process, since you’ve heard so much talk about church planting?
If you have asked any of these questions, you’re not alone! Most churches, at one time or another, wonder whether or not church planting should be in their future, and how to plan accordingly. As a result, we here at BCM/D have created a training event just for those of you who are interested in gaining the information you need to make that a reality. If you think this may be for you, read on!
The “Parent Church Boot Camp” is a comprehensive, two-day training workshop that will be held at the Baptist Mission Resource Center in Columbia, Maryland, on Thursday and Friday October 23-34, from 9:00am to 3:30pm. There we hope to help you learn:
- Why churches need to parent new churches
- The answers to common objections raised in your church
- An overview of the process for “giving birth” to a new church
- Dealing with timing issues
- Partners who are available to help you in the process
Most importantly, you and those who may attend with you will leave the workshop with a step by step, strategic plan in hand for making your parent church dreams a reality.
In addition, every church represented will receive a comprehensive 200 page “how to” manual, along with an additional resource book, which will give you more information to assist you on the journey in the days ahead.
Our objective is to assist you in addressing the issues that must be overcome in order for your church to parent a successful church plant in the coming days. This includes education, but also includes preparation and resourcing to make this happen effectively for all concerned. While some of you have attended the “PC Overview” one day event, and will find some of the information you receive to be similar in content, this workshop promises to go much more in detail, with more resources, group ownership and preparation in hand when you leave on Friday.
The cost is $49 for the first person from your church who enlists and $25 for each additional person. No church will have to pay over $99 to attend, the maximum cost for any church involved.
If you are interested in attending, we do ask that you register by October 26th as food and materials have to be prepared for the event. Please go to our website at www.mybcmd.org/pcbootcamp1008 and click on “Upcoming Events” to register your church for the Parent Church Boot Camp or contact my ministry assistant, Misty Pearson at (800) 466-5290, ext. 222 or at mpearson@bcmd.org for more information or with questions.
