Senior Pastor Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Directs, plans, leads, coordinates pastoral leadership and care.
Serves as a member of:
• Pastoral Ministry Team: Pastoral staff and Deacon Ministry Team leader.
• Leadership Team: Assuming leadership role for planning, coordinating, leading, budgeting, and evaluating all church activities.
• Deacon Ministry Team: Sharing ministry responsibilities with the Associate Pastor to the Deacons and their families.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads the church in spiritual growth, discipleship, and missions involvement.
Coordinates worship planning with the pastoral staff. Meets with the secretary and Associate Pastor to coordinate church calendar and consult administrative matters as required.
Serves as Pastor to all members, as facilitator of the Leadership Team, as advisor to the Deacon Ministry Team on matters pertaining to the spiritual well being of the congregation, and as moderator at quarterly congregational business meetings.
Consults with the Deacon Ministry Team and Associate Pastor on matters pertaining to crisis ministry/counseling.
Plans and Directs in conjunction with the Associate Pastor and prayer leaders, weekly worship services and special services as required. These services include worship services on Sunday morning, mid-week, or Saturday services such as monthly prayer meetings, weekly Bible studies, quarterly adult missions studies.
Promotes unity within the body of Christ at Long Green.
Upholds Baptist doctrine as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message and the Long Green Baptist Church Constitution.
Equips the congregation with the skills needed to perform ministries both inside and outside the church.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• Spirit-led Christian with a commitment to discipleship and personal growth.
• Knowledge of the Bible (Seminary degree preferred, but not required).
• Heart for and calling to the ministry of pastoral leadership and care.
• Effective communicator of well prepared, scripturally sound sermons and studies.
Work Environment:
Includes both indoor and outdoor; sedentary and physical activities
