My Call to the Ministry Hebrews 13:17:
In March of 1972, I was praying as to what the Lord would do with my life. One evening I had a dream that could have only come from the Lord; He was the center of the dream. In it, He affirmed what He had for me to do, and that I would succeed in it. I asked the church I was attending at the time to start praying for me. This church had a prayer-warrior ministry. So, when I started feeling the call of the Lord, twenty-five prayer-warriors started fervently praying for me. A friend and I went on outreach one Tuesday evening to talk to a gentleman and his mother about our church. As the visit was drawing to a close, the lady, who had been a Christian 88 years and whose son had just retired from Moody Bible Institute, looked at me and said, ASome day you will be a good preacher young man.@ My friend looked at me with an expression of awe because we both knew it was the answer to the prayers lifted to heaven. This is the only reason I am qualified. As pastors we always say, it is not your ability but your availability to God. However, we put people in charge who have all kinds of ability (who fit our pastor profile) but who are not people of true availability to God. Some of these people have a tendency to go where they can find the most money or prestige. Please note that every person who has heard my sermons, unsolicited, has said to me they are good. Some people, however, are unhappy because I preach the uncompromising unapologetic Word of God. I have followed Jesus in what I have done. This makes my ministry qualified for any church in His eyes. Is it in yours? God has received the glory from my life, and I pray He continues to get the glory from the rest of my life.
My Salvation Experience Lu 18:26:
As a youth, I was not rebellious. There was no generation gap between my parents and me. However, my "Mayberry lifestyle did not fill the emptiness and uselessness I felt in my life. I knew there had to be something more to life.
A good friend, Mr. Dwight Hickman, invited me to the youth group at his church. I went with the youth to hear a Gospel quartet at a gymnasium and for the first time I heard the simple gospel message. I understood I was a sinner and deserved to go to hell. I asked Jesus to come into my life, and He cleansed me that evening. I felt like I had been washed clean and there was an unexplainable JOY and PURPOSE in my life. As I finished the sinner=s prayer and lifted up my eyes came across to the gym clock. I was born again on June 15, 1971, at 7:29pm.
